Glossary

Common terms used throughout DPU.

  • SDP (Service Delivery Point) — the point where a meter delivers service to a customer; the primary way DPU ties a meter, a customer, and a location together over time.
  • Register read — a cumulative reading taken directly off a meter's register (like an odometer).
  • Interval read — a reading for a fixed time window (for example, every 15 or 60 minutes), typical of AMI/smart meters.
  • VEE (Validation, Estimation, and Editing) — the pipeline that checks incoming reads against rules, estimates values for reads that fail or are missing, and lets you edit them where needed. See Data Enrichment.
  • Exception — a read flagged by a validation rule that needs a human decision. See Managing Exceptions.
  • Meter group — a named collection of meters used to scope validation rules, estimation settings, or analysis.
  • Mart — a modeled, query-ready set of tables built for reporting and analysis. See Data Reference.
  • Extension — an optional analytics module (like Rate Analysis or Load Research) enabled per account. See Analytics Extensions.
